Plywood flat-pack kitchen prices

The same kitchen, flat-pack or assembled

Every UBS kitchen is designed for your space, then cut from the same 16mm-minimum plywood with the same hardware whichever option you pick. The price changes with how much of the work we do. Most flat-pack customers choose one of the first two.

Flat-pack

$8k–$18k*
CNC-cut panels with pre-drilled fixings. You assemble and install. Edges cut only, sanded and oiled, or PVC-edged (see below). Pick up from Wairau Valley, or delivered.

Assembled cabinets

Cabinets built, checked and edge-finished in our factory. Pick up, or delivered to site. You or your builder install.

In Auckland, our own team can install it and sign it off with you on the day. You supply your own benchtop.

Installed with stone top

$21k–$40k*
In Auckland, add a stone benchtop we cut on our own machines and install. Stone adds $3k–$7k by size.
Send your layout and tell us flat-pack or assembled. We'll come back with a price for it, as quick as one business day.

Edge finishes (available on every option)

  • Cut onlyStraight off the CNC, unsanded. Cheapest option if you're finishing the edges yourself.
  • Sanded & oiledSanded and finished in Osmo oil so the ply layers show. Ready to fit.
  • PVC-edgedColour-matched PVC tape over the edge. Sealed and easy to wipe. Usually goes with melamine faces.

Edge finish, face finish (walnut or birch veneer, or 6 melamine colours) and hardware are chosen per panel and priced on your estimate.

Worked example: the same kitchen

$12k
as flat-pack cabinets
vs
$28k
fully installed with a stone top

Same 16mm-minimum plywood on every panel, same 10-year hardware. The difference is assembly, edge finishing, installation labour and stone.

What affects the price

  • Kitchen size and number of cabinets
  • How complicated the layout is (corners, islands, tall units)
  • Face finish: melamine or real-wood veneer
  • Edge finish: cut, oiled or PVC
  • Flat-pack or assembled
  • Pickup, Auckland delivery or freight

*Typical ranges for a whole kitchen, ex our Wairau Valley factory, reviewed September 2026 and refreshed quarterly. Auckland delivery adds a small fee; crated NZ-wide freight from about $500 depending on size and location. Your estimate is priced to your exact layout. Only need a few standard-size cabinets? They are priced individually in our online shop.

Plywood, not particleboard

What a UBS flat-pack is actually made of

A typical kitset kitchen is a set of standard-size particleboard boxes with a 3mm hardboard back. Ours is plywood right through, and it is cut for your room rather than picked from a list of sizes.

  • Every panel at least 16mm plywood, fronts 18mm
  • Backs and drawer boxes in plywood too, not hardboard
  • Moisture-resistant, hardwood core, low-emission glue
  • Cut to your measurements, with pre-drilled fixings

Kitset and MDF columns describe typical construction from the makers we compared. Yours may differ. Ask them what the back panel and drawer boxes are made of.

What customers say

"Great product and service! And the price is comparable to a kit-set kitchen for a better product. I recommend you check them out."Eric M
"Brilliant customer service, prompt delivery and great prices! Our kitchen quote came in at over 30% below any other plywood cabinetry manufacturer in Auckland."Michelle P
"We recently replaced an old MDF kitchen with a new plywood one from UBS. Some of our requirements were very tight to fit in but UBS were extremely helpful with advice on how to achieve what we wanted. What we really appreciated was the consultation during the 2 day installation process and the installer's experience. The plywood looks modern but human and best of all sustainable. We expect the kitchen to outlast us!"Les W

Common questions

Is this a kitset kitchen?

No. A kitset is a set of standard-size boxes. We cut your kitchen to your measurements, so it fits your room without filler panels. If you only need a few standard-size cabinets, they are in our online shop.

What do I get in a flat-pack?

Every panel for your kitchen, CNC-cut to your design from 16mm-minimum plywood with pre-drilled fixings, plus plywood drawer boxes and the hardware. Benchtops, appliances, plumbing and electrical are not part of a flat-pack. Your estimate spells out what's included and what isn't.

How hard is it to assemble?

The fixings are pre-drilled on the CNC, so the panels go together where they are meant to. If you are comfortable with a drill and a level, you can build it. If you'd rather not, choose assembled cabinets and just install them.

Do you deliver outside Auckland?

Yes. Kitchens are crated and freighted anywhere in New Zealand, from about $500 depending on size and location. In Auckland you can pick up from Wairau Valley or have it delivered for a small fee.

Why plywood instead of particleboard?

Plywood is layers of real wood. It holds screws better, weighs less, and resists moisture far better than particleboard, which swells when wet. We use moisture-resistant plywood with a hardwood core and low-emission glue, and we use it on every panel, including the backs and drawer boxes that kitset makers build from 3mm hardboard.

Can you assemble or install it for me?

Yes. We can assemble the cabinets in our factory for you to pick up or have delivered, and in Auckland our own team can install the whole kitchen. Same design, same construction, priced four ways. The ranges are above.

What warranty do you give?

A 10-year warranty on all hardware. Runners and hinges are made to our own specification and we have sold them for over ten years.

How long does it take?

It depends on the design, the finish and the delivery option. We confirm the timeline with your estimate rather than promise a number we cannot keep.

Want a flat-pack price?
